Recognition for Jerry Davis at the Western Region BBAC Montgolfier Dinner
Thursday 21st November , the Western Region BBAC held the Montgolfier Dinner celebrating the achievements of the ballooning community, with Jerry Davis, founder of The Bath Hot Air Balloon Club, receiving an award for his work in promoting hot air ballooning to the local community.
The Montgolfier Dinner, named after Joseph-Michel and Jacques-Étienne Montgolfier—the French brothers who pioneered hot air balloon flight in 1783—is an annual event honoring excellence and innovation in ballooning. The Montgolfiers’ historic first flight marked the dawn of manned flight, making their name synonymous with exploration and achievement in the field.

“This wouldn’t have happened without the great team we have at The Bath Hot Air Balloon Club,” Jerry said during the event. His words highlighted the collaborative effort and shared dedication that have been central to the club’s achievements.
Under Jerry’s leadership, The Bath Hot Air Balloon Club has become an important part of the local community, inspiring enthusiasts and contributing significantly to the sport’s growth. His nomination reflects not just his individual passion and commitment but also the impact of the entire club on the local ballooning community.
Jerry’s award is a proud moment for The Bath Hot Air Balloon Club and a fitting acknowledgment of his dedication to the magic and art of hot air ballooning. Inspired by the Montgolfier brothers’ legacy, the club continues to soar to new heights—both literally and figuratively
